Miniature
They typically stand 12-17 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh under 25 pounds.
Medium
They typically stand 18 to 22 inches tall at the shoulder and usually weigh between 20 and 50 pounds.
Standard
Typically measure 23 inches or more at the tallest point of the shoulders and weigh 55 pounds or more, males being larger than females (regardless of the 3
sizes category).
-
Merle: blue, chocolate, red
-
Bi-colored: usually black with white markings
-
Tri-colored: black, white, and tan resembling the Bernese mountain dog
-
Solid color: one color on the body, like a poodle (e.g., black, white, red)
F1 (first generation): Bernese Mountain dog bred to poodle, resulting in a mix that is 50% Bernese mountain dog and 50% poodle. These dogs generally have straight to wavy coats, with more Bernese characteristics compared to other generations.
The curlier the coat, the less it will shed, due to the poodle influence.

F1B (second generation): an F1 bred to a poodle, averaging 70% poodle and 30% Bernese Mountain dog. F1Bs have wavy coats, and are non-shedding and allergy-friendly.

Multigenerational: F1B bred to an F1B, or a multi-gen. These dogs also have curly, wavy, sometimes fleece-like coats, and are non-shedding and hypoallergenic. These dogs have lots of times have the most colorful coats.
